Training for Enterprise and Innovation - Performing Arts PDF Print E-mail
Innovation Lab approaches enterprise and innovation as performing arts. They are driven by practice and judged by performance. They are not business processes and they are not knowledge based. This ethos determines the nature of all we do.

Innovation Enterprise Piano PlayerWe have devised a process for training people in the art of innovation and enterprise - the Innovation Lab Enterprise Process. It is action-led with individuals working through their ideas stage by stage in a carefully structured programme of practice supported by learning and mentoring. The methodology is identical to that of the piano teacher, taking the learner from one level of competence to another.

Piano teachers have to play. Teachers of enterprise and innovation have to have experienced both. We give them that experience equipping them to guide and support their learners in the development of new ideas in the marketplace and workplace.

The action based approach leads to profound changes in the behaviour and attitudes of the learner, building confidence, developing flexible problem solving and thinking skills, improving communication skills and encouraging the shaping of concepts through increased creativity. This approach facilitates an exciting and productive classroom experience. Learners perform pitches with peer critique and contributions from others. They are encouraged to take their ideas into the marketplace and engage others in helping them be part of the market refinement process. They are constantly engaged in activities and actions that contribute to the development of their own idea.

There are no theoretical models or academic papers to read. Everything that learners need to shape their ideas and to move them forward are included in the programmes of learning. These are mapped to suitable accredited qualifications so that colleges can draw down funding.
