The area to the immediate north and east of Manchester City Centre has declined economically over recent years as its core manufacturing industries withered in the face of overseas competition. Yet in its day the area was at the forefront of technology leading in many areas such as computing, electrical engineering and aerospace to name only three. One Central Park lies at the core of this development and locks the City’s university’s and the local further education providers into the park and into the local community to drive the regeneration process. One Central Park is a company limited whose share holders are Manchester University, MMU, Salford University , MANCAT and Manchester Science Park. One Central Park draws them together to form a very powerful regenerative force. One Central Park comprises three elements namely an Enterprise Train, a New Technology Institute and a Learning Centre. The Enterprise Train is a pathway of provision that allows people to develop their business ideas from start up to flotation leaving and entering as they and their business see fit. The New Technology Institute is a further education centre of technician education with a pathway to higher education and provides aspiration and support for those in the local and surrounding communities wishing to advance their careers through education
The Learning Centre is community focussed drawing people from the local community into the building and to learn basic IT skills One Central Park has been open for three years and is fully operational with over 600 students enrolled and over 60 companies served and created.
